Big Corner Radius Advantages:

Excellent strength of cutting edge, suitable for rough cutting;

Heat dissipation of cutting edge is good, and the tool life is long;

Could improve surface roughness under the condition of constant cutting parameters.

Big Corner Radius Disadvantages:

Radial force is large when cutting;

Require the machine with good rigidity.

Small Corner Radius Advantages:

Suitable for small cutting depth finishing or ultra-precision machining,

The radial cutting force is small when machining the slender shaft.

Small Corner Radius Disadvantages:

The strength of cutting edge and shock-resistance is weak .

Heat dissipation of cutting edge is not good.

Request change cutting parameters to improve surface roughness Ra.

The relationship between corner radius and cutting depth affects the vibration tendency; Usually choose the corner

radius smaller than the cutting depth, which could reduce the vibration tendency.
